Early Morning Golf Gone Wrong
There’s something about early morning golf that feels different from any other time of day. The sun hasn’t fully stretched its arms across the sky yet, the course is quiet, and it feels like you’ve got the whole place to yourself. That was the setting for this week’s Mulligan Men video, where Kyle and I hit the course bright and early, clubs in hand, optimism high, and swings… well, a little questionable.
On the surface, it looked like a perfect golf morning. The air was cool, the fairways were open, and you could practically hear the birds calling out encouragement. But golf has a funny way of humbling you the second you think you’ve got it figured out. From the first tee shot, we realized this round wasn’t going to be smooth sailing — the course had soaked up a bit too much water, leaving things softer than usual. Every swing felt like it sent divots flying into orbit, and by the end, I’m convinced we left enough turf scattered around to re-sod a backyard.
My Struggles of the Day
As for me, the early tee time didn’t exactly translate into crisp ball striking. Instead of launching majestic drives down the fairway, I was chopping up the course like it owed me money. Every time I thought I made a good swing, the ball reminded me who’s boss by skittering off in some unpredictable direction. The sound of clean contact? That was a rare treat this round.
But here’s the thing, that’s what makes Mulligan Men golf so much fun to share. We’re not pretending to be scratch golfers. We’re not out there grinding on mechanics or chasing perfection. We’re regular guys who love the game, love the laughs, and don’t mind when the round gets a little weird.
Mud, Divots, and Memories
The theme of this video really comes down to one word: mess. Between the soggy ground, the flying mud, the chunks of turf, and our less-than-stellar swings, it felt like chaos in golf form. But if you’ve ever played early morning golf, you know that’s part of the charm. The imperfections of the course, the quirks in your game, the goofy moments with your playing partners, that’s the stuff you remember more than the perfect shots.
By the time we walked off the last green, our shoes were caked with mud, our hands were sore, and our confidence had taken a few hits. But we were smiling. Because for all the bad shots and questionable terminology, it was still golf. And golf, even in the messiest form, beats just about anything else you could be doing at 7 a.m.
So, if you’re curious to see divots flying, catchphrases failing, and two guys trying their best to make sense of the game we love, check out our Early Morning Golf video. Just don’t expect textbook swings or polished highlights. Expect the unexpected.
Let it fly. 🏌️♂️
